Other Early Jeep Resources
Sites
There are dozens, perhaps hundreds, of Jeep-related sites and personal home pages.
Here's a list of some of the best:
Mailing Lists
- Off-road.com maintains several mailing lists, including the Jeep-L list
and the vintage Jeep mailing list. The former is primarily oriented towards
modifications of newer Jeeps. Subscription information for both lists is available
at http://www.off-road.com/4x4web/jeep/Jeeplinks.html
- The mil-veh mailing list is a good resource for MB, M38A1, M151, M151A1,
M151A2, and other military Jeeps. Information and archives are available at http://www.mil-veh.org.
Parts
The two major parts suppliers and rebuilders for my repair and
restoration efforts were:
- Willys Minneapolis. Up until its recent closure, this shop was the largest supplier in the Midwest of
parts for older Jeeps. Northstar Willys,
in Dassel, Minnesota, purchased the remaining parts inventory
when Willys Minneapolis closed.
- Beachwood Canvas Works, 39 Lake Avenue, P.O. Box 137, Island Heights, NJ
08732. Tel. (732) 929-3168. http://www.beachwoodcanvas.com.
This supplier produces the best catalog I have seen of parts for older Jeeps. Extensive
inventory of NOS, reproduction, and used parts. Accepts phone and mail orders including MC
and Visa. Accepts international orders. Also carries their own line of canvas tops. Has
parts and covers for original seats.
I have also found Willys Jeep Parts in Mesa, AZ (800-4-Willys) to be a
good source for parts. They only ship COD, cash only, which is too much of a hassle for
me so Ive done most of my business with other shops.
There are dozens of other suppliers throughout the U.S. making the early
Willys Jeep one of the easiest vehicles to get parts for.
Publications
- Willys World. A bimonthly publication with information, stories, want
ads, and display ads from people and companies specializing in Willys vehicles - mostly
Jeeps and Jeepsters.
