We have had flocks of laying chickens at various times. 10 birds provide enough eggs for us and some to give away.

Chickens are so easy to keep that anyone who wants some independence from the grocery store should have some.

Our chicken coop. The chickens spend their days outside during the summer. During the winter, and at night, they live here. Nest boxes are against the right wall. In the morning we collect eggs and fill the waterer. At night we check on them. We fill up the feeders once every couple weeks. That's it.

We're on our second generation of chickens. We hatch our own which is why we tolerate the presence of this fella.
